Westforce Constructions delivers bulk earthworks and site preparation for mine-site, energy and civil projects across Western Australia. Part of the Raubex group, with more than 320 people across WA, we self-perform the full scope: site clearing, mass haul and cut-to-fill, excavation and backfill, soil stabilisation, ground improvement and remediation. Earthworks are the first true test of a project. Get the formation right and every scope that follows starts strong, which is why we assess conditions early, lock in access and sequencing before the machines roll, and build formation that is safe, compliant and ready for the trades behind us.

Bulk earthworks: heavy cut, fine trim, and everything in between

Westforce delivers high-volume excavation, cut and fill operations, backfill and subgrade preparation with efficiency. Just as critically, we execute detailed excavation and final trimming with precision. Our teams handle foundation zones, drainage benches and fine-tolerance work using GPS-controlled machinery and tight handover sequencing. That combination of scale and accuracy removes rework, gives clients confidence in what has been built, and lets downstream trades start with certainty.

Mine-site earthworks and non-process infrastructure (NPI)

Much of our earthworks scope is delivered on operating mine sites across the Pilbara, Goldfields and beyond, where the civil works sit outside the processing circuit but keep the site running. This is the non-process infrastructure (NPI) that miners and their EPCM contractors package and tender separately: the bulk earthworks, hardstands, laydowns, roads, stockyards and the foundations and slabs that workshops, warehouses, tanks and facilities are built on.

Westforce has delivered named NPI packages for tier-one resources clients, including the Iron Bridge NPI mobile maintenance works and the Newman ROM 4 NPI SMPEI and concrete works. We self-perform the earthworks and concrete, coordinate the trades around them, and give you one accountable contractor for the civil scope, on a live site, without slowing production down.

Solutions at the point of pressure

Ground conditions don’t always match the drawings. When that happens, we adapt quickly and maintain momentum. Our supervisors stay present and solutions-focused, bringing experience and accountability to every shift.

With a can-do attitude and personal accountability, we find the solution. That might mean stabilising a soft area, adjusting a line to suit conditions, or getting a new spec approved without delay.

Connected across disciplines, consistent in control

Earthworks never operate in isolation. They sit at the junction of civil, structural and services. Westforce makes sure those links are seamless. Engineers, surveyors and client teams are aligned from the outset. Each element of formation is built to serve what comes next.
Operators understand the technical benchmarks. Supervisors monitor quality, pace and safety. Reporting is clear, and no gaps are left between trades.

Confidence at every level

We work shoulder to shoulder with engineers, surveyors and client teams to make sure the earthworks scope is aligned with every other discipline. Our operators know the technical requirements. Our supervisors manage the pace and the risk. And our reporting gives clients confidence that nothing is slipping between the cracks.

Clear, honest communication and practical solutions make us a partner people can rely on. We’re not interested in shortcuts. We’re here to deliver a result that supports the project in full. Every bench, batter and base is delivered with that commitment in mind. That includes the schedule, the quality, and the integrity of the ground itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver non-process infrastructure (NPI) packages on mine sites?

Yes. Non-process infrastructure is a core part of what we do. We have delivered named NPI packages for tier-one resources clients, including the Iron Bridge NPI mobile maintenance works and the Newman ROM 4 NPI SMPEI and concrete works. Our NPI scope covers bulk earthworks, hardstands, roads, stockyards, and the foundations and slabs for workshops, warehouses, tanks and site facilities.

Can you carry out bulk earthworks on a live, operating mine without disrupting production?

Yes. Most of our mine-site earthworks are delivered around live operations. We plan access, staging and sequencing before the machines roll, work to the site’s production and safety constraints, and coordinate with the operations team so the civil works progress without holding up the running site.

What earthworks volumes and methods can you handle?

We deliver everything from high-volume mass haul and cut-to-fill through to fine-tolerance trimming, using GPS-controlled machinery. The scope includes site clearing, excavation and backfill, soil stabilisation and compaction, ground improvement and dewatering, rock breaking, contaminated soil removal and remediation, and non-destructive digging.

Do you self-perform the concrete as well as the earthworks?

Yes. We self-perform both the earthworks and the structural concrete, so the slabs, footings and foundations that follow the earthworks are delivered by the same accountable contractor. That removes the interface gap between packages, as we did on the Newman ROM 4 earthworks and concrete works.

How do you handle ground conditions that don’t match the drawings?

Ground conditions rarely match the drawings exactly. When they differ, our supervisors adapt on the shift and keep momentum, whether that means stabilising a soft area, adjusting a line to suit conditions, or getting a revised spec approved without delay. We solve it on site rather than pushing it up the chain.

Do you work on remote and regional sites across WA?

Yes. We deliver bulk earthworks and mine-site civil works across the Pilbara, Goldfields and regional Western Australia, as well as metropolitan projects. We mobilise the right crews, plant and supervision to where the project is, and we plan around the logistics and weather that regional programs carry.
