As part of Fortescue Metals Group’s expansion at the Solomon Kings Valley site, a new tailings pipeline is being constructed to transfer material from the ore processing facility (OPF) to the newly developed TSF at Brad Pit. To support this pipeline, three pump stations were planned, with Westforce delivering all civil and concrete works for Pump Stations 1 and 2 as part of the first construction package.
Engaged by PARC Engineering, Westforce carried out detailed earthworks, trenching and structural concrete works across multiple zones, including the 33kV switchroom area and thickener underflow infrastructure.
The works were delivered in a live operational setting, requiring careful sequencing and coordination around existing assets. Each foundation, slab and support structure was completed to tight tolerances, enabling future mechanical and electrical installations to proceed without disruption.
Civil and concrete delivery to support high-pressure tailings transfer.
Westforce was engaged under a Construct Only contract to deliver structural foundations, detailed excavation, and key components of the pipeline support infrastructure. Each element was constructed to accommodate heavy equipment loads and exact alignment for tailings system performance.
Scope highlights:
The team maintained tight sequencing and handover timelines to ensure downstream packages could proceed without delay.
Concrete Volume: 2,800m³~
Detailed Earthworks: 1,500m³~
Reinforcement Steel: 150T~
