Project Overview

Westforce was contracted by Water Corporation to upgrade the roof of the existing 9ML Tank No. 2 at their Northam site. The project involved the complete removal and replacement of the deteriorated roof structure with a modern precast concrete system, including new support columns, beams, and hollow core panels finished with a concrete topping slab.

  • Demolition and disposal of existing roof structure and supports
  • Joint and crack repair, including asbestos management
  • Construction of in-situ footings dowelled into existing tank floor slab
  • Installation of precast concrete columns on new footings
  • Installation of precast beams spanning between columns and bearing onto existing tank walls
  • Installation of precast hollow core concrete panels
  • Application of concrete screed topping over hollow core panels, including edge formwork
  • Installation of access staircase with security access control
  • Installation of FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer) access ladder
  • Installation of aluminium roof ventilators and access hatch
  • Leak testing and commissioning to return the tank to operational service
