Project Overview

Westforce was engaged to deliver the civil balance of works for the installation of four new wind turbine generators (WTGs) at Lynas Rare Earths’ Mount Weld operation near Laverton, Western Australia.

The project forms part of Lynas’ transition to low-emission, off-grid power generation. Westforce’s scope included WTG foundation construction, site clearing, bulk earthworks, in-situ concrete works, and access road development across a remote project footprint.

  • Clearing and grubbing of the designated site area
  • Establishment and operation of concrete batching plant
  • Procurement and Installation of RCP/Poly Culverts and concrete precast culverts
  • Excavation of four WTG footings and disposal of excess material
  • Installation of 50mm blinding concrete for each footing, along with WTG footing bolts and bolt templates
  • Procurement and installation of reinforcement for four WTG footings and formwork (Pecaform) for all four WTG footings
  • Supply and placement of concrete for all WTG footings
  • Installation of berms, thermal blankets for curing and precast stair pads and transformer slabs at each WTG location
  • Backfilling of WTG foundations
  • Construction of approximately 4.5 km of unsealed access roads
