Project Overview

As part of the national rollout of the Australian Defence Force’s next-generation military vehicle fleet, the Land 121 Stage 5B Facilities Project was a major logistics and infrastructure upgrade. This particular package focused on delivering upgraded facilities at Campbell Barracks to support new-generation military vehicles and operational modules. The broader program spanned three defence sites across the country, with Campbell Barracks requiring both structural improvements and critical supporting infrastructure. It aimed to equip key Defence sites with modern support, sustainment, and maintenance facilities.

Westforce was engaged by Lendlease to deliver the civil and stormwater package for this high-security environment. With Defence-grade compliance and a clear mandate to deliver on time, our teams worked closely with the principal contractor and site stakeholders. Westforce completed the civil and stormwater package at Campbell Barracks, meeting Defence’s security and compliance standards, on time and to specification.

Westforce delivered a full-package civil and demolition scope, supporting the development of workshops, offices, vehicle shelters, and high-volume hardstand areas. Early works included demolition of existing structures, including an old firing range and redundant services, under strict environmental and contamination protocols.

We then moved into detailed earthworks, excavation and formation of roads, pavements and foundations. Across 11,300m² of paving and thousands of cubic metres of cut and fill, our teams ensured tight control over quality and sequencing.
Our delivery also included the installation of road furniture, pedestrian infrastructure, fencing, gates, and flagpoles. With extensive experience on secure sites, our crews operated under tight access controls and safety oversight, bringing a calm, competent presence to a complex, high-stakes scope.

Westforce managed the full suite of enabling civil works, delivering safely, on time, and to specification, all within the parameters of a high-security Defence environment. The team worked closely with Lendlease and Defence stakeholders to manage complexity, ensure compliance, and keep the site operational throughout.

Scope included:

  • Establishment of temporary site fencing and traffic management controls
  • Comprehensive geotechnical and contamination testing with environmental controls
  • Sediment, dust, and erosion management
  • Demolition of redundant services and structures, including a firing range

  • Construction of access roads and pavement systems
  • Delivery of an 11,300m² brick-paved hardstand and building pad
