Project Overview

Sandfire Resources’ DeGrussa solar farm and battery energy storage system is at the end of its current off-take agreement. Neoen selected Westforce to manage the decommissioning and rehabilitation of the DeGrussa Solar PV Hybrid Project in Western Australia’s goldfields region.

The project comprised of a 10.6 MW single-axis tracking solar power plant paired with a 4 MW lithium-ion battery storage system.

Westforce’s scope of work included decommissioning, dismantling, and packaging of the solar farm and battery storage facility.
This involved the following:

  • Delineation of work areas
  • Isolation and disconnection of existing electrical services from the mine power plant
  • Disconnection of solar panel electrical feeds, DC boxes, and inverter stations
  • Removal of solar panels, single-axis tracker, array posts, inverter stations, and BESS components
  • Removal of inground conduits and cabling within the solar farm boundaries
  • Removal of existing infrastructure such as fencing, dome structures, containers, piles, and miscellaneous materials
  • Rehabilitation of the existing ground
  • Loading and transportation of all decommissioned components

Panels Removed: 34,080
Solar Farm: 10.6MW
Battery Storage: 4MW
Slew Drive Motors: 426
Scrap Steel: 850T ~
Scrap Copper Cabling: 30T ~
Rehabilitation Area: 240,000m² ~
