Welshpool, WA $12M ~ Leach Welshpool Alliance (LWA)

START: FEBRUARY 2021 - FINISH: MARCH 2023

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Leach Welshpool Alliance (LWA) project is an Alliance Project comprising of Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) and Non-Owner Participants (NOP’s) consisting of Georgiou Group, BG&E, Golder & Associates and Westforce Construction (participating as a Sub-Alliance Partner).

The scope of this brownfields project is to upgrade Leach Highway by building two new bridge overpasses – one over Welshpool Road to create a new grade separated interchange and one over Railway Parade and Sevenoaks Street, effectively doubling the capacity of the existing bridge in this location. As part of the project the road network between Orrong road and Albany Highway is also being upgraded.

The project will support the east-west freight link connecting Fremantle with the Kewdale and Welshpool industrial area. It will also provide access to many industries and businesses.

Used by around 50,000 vehicles per day, Leach Highway and Welshpool Road is currently ranked as one of the worst intersections across Western Australia for crash frequency.
