PROJECT OVERVIEW
Westforce were awarded several packages by Laing O’Rourke on the behalf of Department of Defence, in which we were responsible for the civils, precast & concrete packages, for the upgrade of AIR 5428 Pilot Training System (PTS) Facilities Project at RAAF Base Pearce.
PROJECT SCOPE
Scope included, but was not limited to manufacture / fabrication, supply, installation, testing & any necessary commissioning of Civil Works.
Earthworks - Erosion and sediment control site wide, geotechnical investigations for soil types and ground bearing pressures, bulk earthworks (~ 8,000m3), screw piles, soil conditioning and management of contaminated soils including asbestos and Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF).
Services – Included stormwater up to 1800d potable water, fire water electrical conduits and sewers. Most of this related to identification and relocation of affected services. Also included an underground HDPE 1800d storage vault for fire water. All services required specific planning and consultation with the required stakeholders for live connections.
Precast & Insitu Concrete – In-situ concrete consisted of sub and superstructures with strip footings, ground floor slabs, columns, suspended slabs, hobs, plinths and walls totalling 2500m3. 273 Precast elements were installed to the Tilt Up National code of practice and accompanying temporary works designs & post tensioned suspended slabs.
Noteworthy works included, form, reo, and concrete pour, exceeding 2400m3 and 500m3 of specialised airside concrete mix.
Roadworks - Construction of road pavements (air side & landside) including box cuts, subgrade, subbase, basecourse, and chip seal before two 50mm asphalt layers in accordance with MRWA specifications. Sections of 450mm thick Concrete pavement on cement stabilised base was also included within the scope.
Minor works – Pavements, footpaths, line markings, bollards, landscaping & signage.
