A new 60MW solar photovoltaic (PV) generation facility at the Fortescue metals group Chichester hub iron ore operations, as well as a 60 kilometeres transmission line linking the Fortescue's Christmas creek and cloud break mining operations in the Pilbara.

The transmission line will also connect the FMG mines to Alinta's existing 145MW gas fired Newman power station and its 35MW battery storage system. Fortescue is to be the main off taker of the project, which will help reduce the use of diesel by around 100 million liters annually.
